A good bright morning with a forecast for working in the garden.
I want to sort the Fig tree, but there is work to be done before I can start that. The remainder of the old raised bed has to be removed and a bit of a weed done to improve the area.
I started after breakfast and by lunch I had moved the soil from the old position to the new one. When digging the raised bed there were a lot of brown roots. I thought at first they were perennial weeds, but once I had finished I realised that the roots were coming from the Fig tree. They were all taken off.I started weeding all around the fig and the area in front of it. All weeds were removed to the brown bin.
I weeded the area behind the raised bed between the greenhouse and the Fig and got it ready for a top dressing of wood shavings. I do a lot of wood turning and general working with wood and this is a good use for the shavings. I helps to suppress weeds, it is free and clean to use.
When I had finished this and the area around the bed I used the wood shavings to good effect. This now leaves the area right for working on the Fig, probably tomorrow.
Another good day in the garden. Let's hope for another dry day tomorrow.
